BISHKEK, September 19 (Itar-Tass) — The Kyrgyz authorities decided to block the Internet access to the film Innocence of Muslims in the republic, the press service of the republican Prosecutor General’s Office told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
“Over the posting and show of this video film on the You Tube website that sparked up spontaneous protest actions in various Muslim countries and triggered massive disorders, the republican Prosecutor General’s Office has made an inquiry,” the press service reported. “The film Innocence of Muslims contains some signs of propaganda for instigating interreligious strife, which caused the ban for the distribution of this video film in the Kyrgyz segment of the Internet,” the press service said.
In this respect, the Prosecutor General’s Office gave instructions to the state-run telecommunications agency to block the Internet access “to the show of the foresaid video film, which was posted on the You Tube website to prevent it from spreading in the country.” The State National Security Committee was instructed to conduct the soonest expertise of this film for the signs of “the propaganda of interreligious strife or other traces of extremism.” “Upon the results of this expertise a lawsuit will be filed in the court to find it as an extremist material and introduce a ban for its show and distribution in the republic,” the press service reported.
On Tuesday, head of the information department of the Kyrgyz foreign political agency Nurzhigit Kadyrbekov has made a statement, in which he noted that the film Innocence of Muslims is provocative.
