YAKUTSK, March 06. /ITAR-TASS/. Gazprom will engage in geological prospecting at the Chayanda field in the Lena District of the Republic of Yakutia until 2015, Alexei Davydov, General Director of the Gazprom Geologorazvedka (geological prospecting), told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
"We are planning to finalize geological prospecting in 2015 if we do not get something new on the strength of results of seismic survey work," Davydov emphasized.
According to Davydov, the scope of seismological work at the field has trebled during the survey; new wells have been added, and the resource base has increased. Forecasts say that production at Chayanda will be about 25 billion cubic meters of gas a year. However, these estimates are yet to be verified, the geologist added.
Until 2015, the gas monopoly's subsidiary will engage in seismic survey work at 18 wells of the Chayanda field, as well as at three license areas: Verkhne-Vilyuchansk, Sobolokh-Nedzhilin and Tas-Yuryakh. Drilling is to be started at the Tas-Yuryakh deposit in 2015-2016.
The Lena District of the Republic has a budget surplus. "The income tax on Gazprom activities is about 60 million rubles a year. This contributes to the development of the territory," District Head Sergei Vysokikh pointed out.
The Gazprom Geologorazvedka is operating at more than 60 license areas throughout the country's territory, 17 of which are located on the shelf of the Barents and Kara Seas. In Yakutia, the company has five unique licenses in the territory of four districts of the Republic.
