ASTANA, December 13. /TASS/. Kazakhstan will not impose a ban on currency export as part of an anti-crisis policy, President Nursultan Nazarbayev said on Sunday.

"I would like to stress that we are not planning to do that - to bind keep currency here. It would run counter to market economy principles and our entire financial policy," Nazarbayev said in an interview aired by Kazakh television channels.

He said various measures were taken in conditions of crises. "For instance, during the 1998-1999 crisis in Southeast Asia, Malaysia banned currency export and all of its exporters had to keen their currency proceeds inside the country. It was an emergency and non-market measure," he said.

According to earlier reports, Kazakhstan’s government adopted last week an anti-crisis plan for the next three years. Along other measures, the document provides for a package of measures to de-dollarize the economy and boost the attractiveness of financial instruments in th national currency.
