MOSCOW, March 28. /TASS/. Jordan is ready to buy liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia’s gas giant Gazprom, according to the protocol of the third meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-Jordanian Commission. The copy of the document was obtained by TASS.
"The Jordanian side asked the Russian side to consider the possibility of LNG supplies to Jordan at preferential prices. The Jordanian side suggests that Gazprom would supply liquefied natural gas to Jordan from the portfolio of Gazprom group," according to the document.
According to the protocol, the parties also marked their readiness to expand bilateral cooperation in energy sector.
Jordan wants to see Russian oil and gas and power companies involved in projects of its fuel-an-power sector. Jordan also proposed to set up joint ventures for production and sale of mineral resources.
Russia and Jordan agreed to exchange experience in exploration of mineral resources and estimation of reserves, as well as technologies used in shale oil production.
According to the document, Jordan is ready to apply to the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) for launching talks on a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
Russia informed the Jordanian side that as soon as the respective application is submitted a joint research group will be set up for studying the reasonability of this agreement, the document said.
The group will consist of Jordan’s observers and experts from the EAEU member-countries. According to the protocol, Russia plans to approve the application.
Also, the Russian side has repeatedly explained that Jordan has been included in the list of developing countries, which enjoy the EAEU system of privileges, the document said.
Jordan has also initiated the creation of an industrial cluster to produce farm machinery in cooperation with Russia, which will get access to Jordan’s trade partners in case the project is implemented.
The Jordanian side is offering the creation of a Russia-Jordan industrial area to focus on machinery and production of equipment, such as agricultural equipment, cars and more. The project will enable the Russian industry to take the privileges that are usually available in such areas," the protocol said.
The issue is mainly about the access to markets, which is allowed in accordance with free trade agreements Jordan has signed with several trade partners.
