MOSCOW, January 8. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi have discussed in detail in a constructive manner over the phone a number of issues of the Russian-Italian cooperation, including trade and economic ties, the Kremlin press service said on Friday.
The conversation was initiated by the Italian side.
"Both sides reaffirmed the importance of continuing joint work for the benefit of the implementation of the mutually advantageous energy projects," the press service said.
While exchanging views on the pressing issues of the international agenda, the two sides focused on the prospects of resolving the conflict in Syria and the situation in relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
"In this context, they pointed to the importance of the close coordination of efforts in combating international terrorism," the press service said.
Putin and Renzi also discussed the schedule of the forthcoming bilateral contacts at various levels.
