MOSCOW, January 28. /TASS/. Russia welcomes the decision of the Swedish court of appeal on the claim of Yukos’ Spanish shareholders, the Russian Ministry of Justice said on Thursday.
The Swedish court of appeal recognized the ruling of the Stockholm Arbitration of July 25, 2012 on recovery of $2 mln in favor of claimants as "not subject for execution" because the Stockholm Arbitration should not have considered the claim, the ministry said.
"The Russian Federation consistently relied on a position the arbitration had no competence to try this dispute. The Russian Ministry of Justice welcomes the decision of the Swedish court of appeal in this regard," the ministry said.
Seven Spanish investment funds filed a claim against the Russian Federation in 2007 after sale of Yukos’ assets and demanded compensations. The claimants have an opportunity to file an appeal to the Supreme Court of Sweden by February 15.
"Further steps of the Russian Federation will depend on claimants’ actions," the ministry said.
