MOSCOW, February 8. /TASS/. Kurds’ participation in the talks on the settlement of the Syrian conflict will make it possible to avoid disruption of the peace process, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday after a meeting between Russian president’s Middle East and Africa envoy and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and leader of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party Salih Muslim.
"The sides thoroughly discussed the situation in Syria and issues of the establishment of an intra-Syrian dialogue under the auspices of the United Nations," the ministry said. "The Russian side reiterated the necessity of the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2254 and proper representation of the Syrian opposition, including Kurdish forces, at the talks with the Syrian government delegation."
Moscow believes that this is a major tool to render sustainability to the intra-Syrian negotiating process and to avoid its disruption in future, the ministry said.
