MOSCOW, February 12. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and chief of the UN International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukia Amano have discussed Moscow-IAEA cooperation on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, the ministry said on Friday.
"The sides exchanged opinions on some topical aspects of Russia-IAEA cooperation, including the Iranian nuclear program settlement," the statement said.
"The meeting demonstrated high level of mutual understanding and cooperation," it said.
"The agency has an important stage of its work now," Lavrov said. "Implementation of the action plan on the Iranian nuclear program is an important part of our activities."
"We understand the institute cannot exist without reforms and changings," the minister said. "So we are quite interested in discussing the question of making the agency more affective in compliance with the Non-Proliferation Treaty principles."
Amano said the agency highly assesses Russia’s contribution to the achievement of the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program and its implementation.
