SOCHI, November 29, 22:06 /ITAR-TASS/. The budget of Russia’s ministry of defence in 2013 will reach 2.3 trillion roubles, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday.
“The state is allocated huge amounts for these purposes,” Putin stressed. “I would like to remind that in 2003 the defence ministry’s budget was 600 billion roubles, and following the adjustments, this year’s budget will be two trillion and 300 billion roubles.”
He said that the funds are allocated to ensure the state’s defence potential for a long-term perspective.
Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that the budget of the Russian defence ministry in 2013 would amount to 2.1 trillion roubles. He also said that by the year 2020 the Russian army would be completely equipped with new weapons. “It is vitally important, especially for Russia as a nuclear power,” he said.
