“On Thursday morning, Makhach Taimudarov, born in 1976, a warlord of gangs rampaging in Dagestan was killed in an attempt for an armed breakthrough from the private house blocked by commandoes in a combat operation in the city of Makhachkala,” the committee’s information centre said.
“In 2005 Taimudarov was ousted from a local mosque for spreading extremist religious views,” the information centre reported. According to the Federal Security Service department, he has been abetting to bandits since 2007 and has recently got in close ties with Aliaskhab Kebekov who led all North Caucasian gangs after warlord Umarov was killed.
However, shortly after that he restarted recruiting young people in the district claiming for the role of an ideological patron. Later he joined the gang and engaged in bandit raids.
Neither civilians nor law enforcers were wounded in the special operation on Thursday.
Meanwhile, a terrorist accomplice was blocked at a private house in Narimanov Street in the Dagestani city of Derbent, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee said. The anti-terrorism operation regime was introduced, residents of neighbouring houses were evacuated. “It was found out that two women, including a common law wife of the bandit and his mother were staying in the house. They were evacuated as a result of talks,” the committee said.
“Killed bandit was preliminarily identified as Malik Ulubekov, born in 1989. According to available reports in the operations headquarters of the committee, he was an active member of the so-called Sogratl gang. He joined the gang in the autumn of 2013. Ulubekov was directly involved in the attack on police that bandits delivered on the outskirts of the village of Sogratl this year killing three policemen and inflicting different wounds to ten more police officers. Two servicemen of Russian interior troops were killed in another assault in which he participated,” the committee’s information centre reported.
