Two Russian women die of pulmonary embolism while travelling in bus across Poland

WARSAW, January 6. /TASS/. Two Russian women died of plumonary embolism while travelling across Poland in a tourist bus bound from Russia’s St. Petersburg to Prague, Valeria Perzhinskaya, a spokeswoman of the Russian embassy in Poland, told TASS on Wednesday.

"The embassy has received autopsy results. The two women died of natural causes," he said. "In both cases, the death was caused by blood clots that occluded lung vessels."

She said the Russian embassy was in touch with the women’s relatives. "Wednesday is a day-off in Poland, so, all issues of the transportation of the bodies to St. Petersburg will be dealt with on Thursday," the spokeswoman said.

The incident occurred early in the morning on Monday on the S8 highway near Lodz, when a woman passenger of a tourist bus with Lithuanian number plates fell unconscious. Medics failed to save the 57-year-old Russian woman. Some 30 minutes later, another woman aged 65 felt sick and died.
