HAVANA, February 12. /TASS/. Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has said the people of Cuba who have have defended their right to live as they see fit are heroic. He was speaking at a meeting with Cuban President Raul Castro in Havana.
"The patriarch noted that respect for their own country and people is an issue that is particularly acute for Cuba, because the people of Cuba have heroically defended their right to live as they see fit," the patriarch’s spokesman Father Alexander Volkov has told reporters.
"There may be different critical evaluations, but I can only offer spiritual evaluation of this kind of things," he quoted the patriarch as saying.
According to the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, "heroism is a spiritual concept that cannot be learned from books, it stems from a person’s spiritual life."
