MOSCOW, February 25. /TASS/. The Russian Orthodox and Catholic churches will cooperate more vigorously to protect family and fight against abortion, Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate's External Church Relations Department Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev) has told TASS.
"We already have good cooperation with the Pontifical Council for the Family and have joint projects that we implement. These are conferences dedicated to family protection issues, countering abortion and so on. I believe we will expand this direction," the metropolitan said.
The pope and the patriarch in the joint declaration signed on February 12 in Havana declared rejection of abortion, euthanasia and same-sex unions.
