MOSCOW, February 9. /TASS/. Russia is actively sharing its experience and technologies with Brazilian colleagues to ensure security at the forthcoming Olympic Games to be held in this Latin American country in August, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Latin American Department Alexander Schetinin has told TASS.
The diplomat noted that "the humanitarian, cultural and sports ties are important areas of Russia’s cooperation with the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, especially considering the fact that the Olympic Games will be held in Brazil this year. "Brazil and Latin America will thus become for us the scene of sports tournaments with a wide range of events," he said.
"Russia is actively cooperating with Brazilian counterparts to ensure safety at the forthcoming Olympic Games," Schetinin said. "There are specific requests from the Brazilian side that we are considering. We maintain close contacts with them to make sure that security at the 2016 Olympic Games is ensured at the necessary level, including technical, all the more so as we have such experience."
"Brazilians and we are simultaneously organizing sports tournaments - the FIFA World Cups, the Olympic Games and World Student Games," the diplomat said. "Therefore, the exchange of experience with them on the wide array of issues related to organizing large-scale sports tournaments has become an important area of the Russian-Brazilian cooperation. "This applies to the actual organization of sports tournaments, the work with the fans and ensuring security," Schetinin said. "We are satisfied with the level of cooperation with our Brazilian colleagues between various agencies and in different areas."
