SOCHI, February 13. /ITAR-TASS/. Two Olympic soothsaying otters at the Sochi aquarium predicted victory for Russian national ice hockey squad over the Slovenian team at their opening match of the 2014 Winter Olympics, aquarium’s deputy director said on Thursday.
Zhanna Zazina said Harry already made six correct predictions out of seven attempts, which included the victory of the Russian figure skating team, victories of the Russian women ice hockey team and some others.
“Once the Belarusian television asked Harry whether skier Darya Domracheva would win and the otter confirmed her eventual victory,” Zazina said.
According to the aquarium’s staff, Harry predicted that the Russian ice hockey team would win their group stage matches against Slovenia and Slovakia, but would concede to the United States.
The staff hopes that Harry made a wrong prediction concerning the team’s defeat with the United States, just like it made the wrong prediction about the Russian men’s victory in curling against Canada.
Paul the octopus became an international celebrity after he made only two mistaken predictions at the 2008 Euro Cup and none at the 2010 World Cup.
The Russian hockey team has been placed in Group A along with teams from Slovakia, Slovenia and the United States and plays its opening game at the Sochi Olympics on Thursday against Slovenia.
