“The fate of Voloshin is unclear yet,” a representative of the television and radio broadcasting company said.
VGTRK special correspondent in Ukraine Igor Kornelyuk came under gunfire with the sound engineer and several other journalists near a militia checkpoint. At that moment of time militiamen tried to evacuate a group of refugees from the dangerous zone. All journalists were carrying media badges. Cameraman Viktor Denisov was not wounded in shelling, because he had been staying at some distance from the common group.
Igor Kornelyuk was 37 years old. He was born in south Ukraine’s Zaporozhye. He has worked at Yamal VGTRK’s office since 1998 and then as a chief of the editor’s office of children’s television programs. In October 2013 he was appointed as head of the VGTRK office in the northern Russian city of Murmansk and went on an office mission in Ukraine on June 1, 2014.
