Deutsche Welle media corporation said, referring to an official in the NATO headquarters in Brussels that NATO confirmed the American CNN television reports that the Ukrainian army used short-range ballistic missiles against the militias in the east of the country. The official declined to provide the details, saying that the reports “were based on the U.S. intelligence data.”
Some media reported that the Ukrainian military possibly used the Tochka missile systems with the range of more than 100 kilometers. Deutsche Welle said it was not immediately clear how many missiles the Ukrainian side fired or what their targets were.
According to Deutsche Welle, Ukraine has disproved the CNN report. Deutsche Welle cited an official of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council who said on July 30 that the country’s armed forces “do not use ballistic missiles during the counter-terrorist operation.
