MOSCOW, December 1. /TASS/. The Ukrainian army has shelled the outskirts of Donetsk on Tuesday morning, a source in the Defense Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) told Donetsk News Agency.
"At around 9 a.m. the Ukrainian military opened fire on the Volvo Center area. The artillery bombardment lasted for half an hour," he said.
The ministry noted that the fire emanated from the Ukrainian Armed Forces positions in the village of Peski, with Ukrainian armed units using 82-mm mortars.
According to an agreement reached during the talks of the Contact Group in Minsk, Belarus, the full ceasefire on the line of contact in the Donbas region came into effect on September 1. However, the DPR Defense Ministry earlier said that the situation in the region had deteriorated. There has been a substantial increase in the number of artillery bombardments of the northern and western outskirts of Donetsk and its suburbs.
