ASTANA, December 21. /TASS/. Tajikistan does not consider joining the Riyadh-led coalition against the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization, the country’s Deputy Foreign Minister Parviz Davlatzoda told TASS on Monday.

"We do not consider this at all," Davlatzoda, who arrived in Astana to participate in the meeting of the foreign ministers "European Union - Central Asia," said.

The Asharq Al-Awsat daily reprted earlier that Azerbaijan and Tajikistan are considering the possibility of joining the anti-terrorist coalition led by Saudi Arabia. The daily quoted Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Riyadh Sharifi Azamsho Latifzoda as saying that Dushanbe is currently "considering Saudi Arabia’s proposal to join the Islamic coalition to fight against terrorism."

The diplomat said that Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon will visit Saudi Arabia in January and hold a meeting with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. He stressed that the sides will discuss issues of strengthening cooperation in the sphere of fighting against terrorism, in particular, the possibility of Dushanbe’s participation in the Islamic military bloc.

The Riyadh-led anti-terrorist coalition includes 34 countries. The joint command center of the coalition will be set up in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh.
