MOSCOW, January 13. /TASS/. Pro-Kiev armed units opened fire from mortars at the territory of Donetsk airport on Wednesday, a source at the agencies of law and order of the self-proclaimed unrecognized Donetsk People’s Republic told reporters.
"Ukrainian units opened fire at the airport compound at about 19:43 and the shelling lasted about thirty minutes," he said.
The shelling was conducted from 120 mm mortars and some of the shells fell on the Volvo Center located not far from the air terminal.
Parties to the meeting of the Contact Group in charge of setting the armed civil conflict in eastern Ukraine that was held in the Belarusian capital Minsk on Wednesday urged the warring sides to establish an immediate ceasefire as of 00:00 hours on January 14.
As of the autumn of 2014 when the first batch of Minsk accords on easing tensions in eastern Ukraine was signed, the parties to the conflict have made six ceasefire arrangements. The last ceasefire lasted from December 22 throughout the period of winter holidays.
