TEL AVIV, January 15. /TASS/. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said the cooperation of the Russian and Israeli military as part of the coordination mechanism on Syria is successful.
This tool "works securely," Netanyahu said at a press conference in Jerusalem on Thursday. "We acknowledge the fact of each other’s special interests and plan to do so that this coordination and absence of confrontation continue."
In late November, Israel and Russia agreed to expand coordination amid the deterioration of the conflict in Syria. Netanyahu announced the plans shortly after the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Paris on November 30.
Netanyahu said the sides agreed to "enhance military coordination to prevent accidents on a wide scale."
On September 21, 2015 Netanyahu arrived in Moscow. Israeli mass media said the goal of the visit was to "prevent misunderstanding between the Israel Defense Forces and the Russian forces" on Syria. Netanyahu said a mechanism for preventing such misunderstanding was created and this was very important for Israel’s security.
