VIENNA, January 17. /TASS/. U.S. commitments on lifting sanctions against Iran come into force, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said following talks in Vienna.
"I confirm that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) verified the implementation of Iran's obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCOA). U.S. commitments connected with the removal of sanctions enter into force," he said.
Earlier European Union Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini announced the beginning of lifting EU sanctions against Iran. "As Iran has fulfilled all its obligations, the international and unilateral sanctions against Iran are lifted in accordance with the JCOA," she said.
Mogherini noted that the P5+1 (the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council - China, France, Russia, United Kingdom, United States - plus Germany) and Iran "will cooperate in peaceful use of nuclear energy under the JCPOA.".
