MOSCOW, January 19. /TASS/. More than 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid has been airlifted to residents of the Syrian city Deir ez-Zor besieged by militants and other regions of the country, Russian Defense Ministry official spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on Tuesday.
"Commanders of the Russian air group in the Syrian Arab Republic continue the humanitarian operation on delivering food and necessities to regions blocked by terrorists. More than 40 tonness of humanitarian cargoes were delivered to residents of the city of Deir ez-Zor blocked by militants and other regions," Konashenkov said.
He added that Syrian residents received dry food rations provided by the Russian Defense Ministry, as well as food provided by the Syrian government. Humanitarian cargoes were loaded to P-7 parachute platforms by Russian servicemen at the Hmeimim air base and then airlifted by a plane of the Russian Military-Transport Aviation.
"The Syrian leadership received information from the settlements to which humanitarian aid was airlifted that all cargoes were received and distributed among local residents," Konashenkov said.
