BEIRUT, February 16. /TASS/. The United States and European Union should lift sanctions against Damascus, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem was quoted by Sana news agency as saying on Tuesday.
"The unilateral sanctions against Syria imposed by the US and the European Union should be lifted," Muallem told UN special envoy to Syria, Staffan de Mistura.
The minister said the sanctions "aggravated the sufferings of Syrian people."
Muallem and de Mistura also discussed deliveries of humanitarian aid to the Syrian cities sieged by the conflicting sides.
