KIEV, March 7. /TASS/. Ukraine’s prime minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk will agree to resign if another influential position is offered to him, political analyst Ruslan Bortnik said on Monday.
"Yatsenyuk will voluntarily step down from his office if he receives a position comparable with his current office - head of Ukraine’s Security and Defense Council or National Bank of Ukraine," Bortnik told Golos UA periodical.
Yatsenyuk may also be interested in compensation for losing the prime minister’s post and for his party’s presence in the parliamentary coalition, Bortnik said. The compensation may be financial or by "promotion of his team members to other positions, probably in law enforcement or in economic block," the expert added.
"Finally, the most important is to receive guarantees regarding absence of criminal prosecution for his work in the office," the expert said. Such guarantees should be extended by the president and Ukraine’s western partners, Bortnik added.
Ukraine’s mass media reported earlier citing sources in the presidential administration that finance minister Natalie Jaresko tentatively consented to lead the government and presented several conditions.
