MOSCOW, March 19. /TASS/. There were 6 foreign citizens on board the Boeing that crashed in Russia's Rostov-on-Don, a source in emergency services told TASS on Saturday.
"The latest reports, based on passengers' ID information, on board were 16 citizens of foreign countries, including 7 people from Ukraine, two from Spain and two more from India, one from Cyprus, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Columbia, Seychelles Islands," the source said, adding out of the 46 Russian nationals 42 come from the Rostov region, two from Volgograd region, one from Krasnodar region and one from Komi.
According to the prosecutor's office of Russia’s Rostov region, the crew captain of Boeing 737-800, that crashed in Rostov-on-Don in south of Russia on Saturday, was a citizen of Cyprus.
The Consulate General of Cyprus in Krasnodar has confirmed that the captain of the aircraft was a citizen of that country.
An official with the consulate said that the office is in constant contact with the Russian Foreign Ministry. The captain was a Cypriot born in 1978, the official said.
According to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, eight Ukrainian citizens are among the victims of the tragedy. The Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry has confirmed a citizen of Kyrgyzstan was killed in the crash.
On Saturday at 3:42 MSK, Boeing 737-800 of FlyDubai Airlines (flight 981 FZ from Dubai) crashed at the airport of Rostov-on-Don during the second landing in difficult weather conditions (strong side wind and rain). There were 62 people on board. According to preliminary data, no one survived.
